My friend hates going into Evans for the simple fact that everyone else looking for plus-size clothing will be in there too. Plus size clothing is still a relatively small market, and it's not like you can go to Topshop, then move onto Miss Selfridge of Warehouse if you don't find the right thing...you're just kind of stuck with one high street store, and i think many people feel obliged to buy from there because there are so few other options.
